The American Boy

The American Boy

He is the American boy.
He’s not much older than eighteen
he is heading off to war.
He is trained to protect
he is fighting for our freedom.
He is the average American boy.

He is our hero
he risks his life every day.
He has left his family behind
he may never return.
He fights for days without any rest
he never complains.
He is the average American boy.

He is the American boy.
He proudly left to serve his country
he knows not many understand why.
He fought for years
he didn’t know how much it meant.
He is the average American boy.
